Through an agreement within OFEG, NIOZ, NERC and NSF will support the OSNAP program by taking on the ship time needs for the OSNSP EAST mooring arrays and instruments.
OSNAP (Overturning in the Subpolar North Atlantic Program) is a large international program with PI’s from the US, UK, Canada, Germany, China, France and the Netherlands. The program has two components, with arrays west and east of Greenland. The OSNAP East moorings (21 in total) were first deployed in 2014 during a cruise on RV Knorr, supported by NSF. In 2015, all mooring have been serviced during 2 cruises on RV Pelagia, along with additional work carried out during these cruises. For 2016, NERC has committed to take on the OSNAP East cruises.
